This privately held injection molding plastic manufacturer is on the hunt for an Advanced Quality Manager to lead a talented quality team. This company provides a work life balance at a facility that operates from Monday to Friday with 8-hour shifts. They put a high emphasis on ethics of their employees and are looking for career driven professionals that put a high value on doing what is right for their team, company, and their customers. They are a growing company with 3 sites, the most recent being a new plant in KY. But they have a rural/family feel to their facility while still being able to support major OEMs.

The basic functions of the position of Metrology Lab Manager are to provide direction and coordination of all quality department activities in order to make quality an inherent part of the company’s culture, provide leadership to meet customer specifications and expectations, to meet optimum efficiency of operations and maximize profits. This position requires team oriented approach to interface with internal and external customers; the ability to communicate with and maintain interpersonal skills with all members of the organization. The Advanced Quality Manager directly reports to and is accountable to the COO. The following functions and/or positions directly report to and are accountable to the Quality Manager: Quality Engineers, Quality Assistants, Quality Auditors, and Quality Technicians.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all products manufactured are in accordance with quality programs and requirements as well as the quality/reliability standards of the customer specifications and expectations.
  • Serve as Management Representative during certification audits.
  • Train and develop all personnel in root cause analysis of quality issues and development of long term cost effective solutions as well as a ‘preventative’ mind set to anticipate future occurrences.
  • Lead, direct and train quality associates in their job responsibilities and functions. Verify the effectiveness of the training and performance.
  • Facilitate and participate in customer surveys and audits.
  • Maintain the quality document and data control systems, including ISO14001 standards and documentation.
  • Manage all aspects of inspection, testing and measurement systems.
  • Direct and facilitate communications with customers and suppliers on quality related issues.
  • Review complaint trends and review corrective actions with appropriate personnel.
  • Development, implementation and maintenance of continuous improvement and adherence to quality system.
  • Develop and/or review standards, policies and procedures for all functions and departments involved with or related to the production of all products and processes.  Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels and verify the implementation of solutions.
  • Participate in APQP process for new product launches through production state.

Qualifications:

  • BS Degree required
    • MS/MBA in Business Management, Mathematics, Manufacturing Technology or Engineering is preferred
    • A minimum of 5 years quality operations experience in quality control in production/manufacturing environment
      • 7 years Quality Manager in plastic injection molding environment to include automotive product is preferred

    • TS16949 Certified Lead Auditor
    • ISO14001 Certified Lead Auditor
    • Root Cause Analysis, Problem Solving, Preventative Action (ability to anticipate problems, use of 8D, 5 Why, etc.)
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) applications
    • APQP, PPAP Submission, and Geometric Tolerance
    • Layout and capability studies, measurement equipment
    • Customer and Supplier interface and negotiation
    • Effective leadership and training ability
    • Strategic planning for quality department and general company objectives
    • Ability to read and interpret statistical data, regulations and law
    • Excellent math skills and accuracy to include SPC, cost-benefit analysis, budgets and other associated areas
