Senior Extrusion Processing Engineer

We are seeking a leader with outstanding experience in a plastics extrusion environment to join our team. Prior technical experience within the plastics industry, specifically material compounding, is required. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Material Engineering and 5+ years in extrusion or compounding in addition to experience leading a successful team.
This Senior Extrusion Processing Engineer position will be a manufacturing lead position with activities focused upon optimizing and maintaining extrusion production processing, material compounding and troubleshooting with a focus on sustainable/environmental material development. This person will be responsible for the supervision, training, and development of all Operational personnel, while supporting production, material development and mold tryouts in the business unit.
You will be working for a leader in designing and producing high-performance thermoplastic compound solutions with a focus on developing eco-friendly materials that can offer our customers high performing, cost effective, environmentally responsible options. Designing innovative materials and solutions for our customer is our passion.
Responsibilities:
- Owns compounding and extrusion process from recipe to production
- Performs systems analysis (APQP) and design on new projects
- Works closely with CFI Meg Lab in material development
- Leads all material tryouts (compounding and extrusion)
- Administers process control system and process control procedure
- Works closely with Plant Manager
- Technical leadership in plant, including mentoring of technicians
- Participates in molding tryouts lending guidance
- Actively participates in projects and groups as assigned by Plant Manager
- Ensures project goals are met within stated guidelines and requirements, including tryouts, tests, and samples for Noble Polymers and CFI’s Material Engineering Group
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (chemical or material engineering)
- Minimum 5 – 8 years’ experience in material compounding
- Experience compounding recycled and bio materials
- Significant understanding of extrusion molding equipment and accessories
- Demonstrated high level Core Competencies (outstanding interpersonal skills)
- Strong project management skills and ability to oversee and multiple projects at one time
- PMO certification
- Practices The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
- Excellent writing, math and computer skills
- Excellent communication skills, including written and oral communication, mentorship and experience leading diverse teams
- Experience and understanding of plastic properties and behavior under molding conditions
- Ability to work to achieve business goals and corporate objectives with minimal supervision

Position:
- Full-time employee
- Pay: $70,000 - $90,000 (depending on qualifications and experience)
