Molding Process Manager

The Molding Process Manager role directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of production plans and projects within area of assigned responsibility.

This company is a designer and supplier of injection molding implantable materials, polymers and interior components for the aerospace, defense, medical, and commercial markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the process technicians on the production floor.
  • Train process technicians using SIM requirements for molding and troubleshooting.
  • Review specific phases or aspects of projects, such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing, are completed to meet customer requirements and approve them before they are put in the production phase.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications before it is released to production.
  • Manage 5S projects and oversee implementation and maintaining efforts.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems as they relate to the production floor.
  • Directs integration of technical activities and products for production.
  • Participate in tool designs, to implement new jobs and press locations.
  • Ability to sample new and old tooling using SIM.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machines and tooling.
  • Ability to conduct and interpret Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Ability to use the E-dart, interpret graphs and data, set up limits and export data.
  • Ability to propose and implement cost reduction ideas and prepare capital expenditure requests that meet company acceptable ROI (Return on Investment).
  • Basic understanding of statistical techniques used for validations and solving problems using data.
  • Responsible for helping close out CAPA’s (with assistance of Quality).
  • Scrap reporting and reduction efforts.
  • Establish best practices of Process Technician duties to ensure uniform execution across shifts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering from four-year college or university, or five (5) years minimum related experience.
