Continuous Improvement Coordinator

The Continuous Improvement Coordinator is a production floor positions that plans, coordinates, and directs Lean Manufacturing programs designed to ensure continuous improvement of entire operations in both US and MX. The CI Coordinator ensures all departments have identified CI projects for the fiscal year, manages a tracker to ensure projects are in line and being completed on-time, facilitates these projects, validates results of these projects, coordinates audits to ensure sustainment and facilitates a CI reporting program to ensure projects have defined actions assigned to individuals with expected completion dates and are progressing with projected timelines.

The role provides feedback to leadership of future events with greatest ROIs, maintains the CI suggestions from the hourly workforce, ensures Lean principles are followed, conducts layered process audits, and is responsible for working closely with Quality, Production and Engineering departments. The position assists in facilitating Employee Communication meetings, is responsible for improving plant safety performance and key indicators, and strives to eliminate workplace hazards, reduce ergonomic concerns and work with departments to improve the overall safety record and production efficiency of the plant. Additionally, the Continuous Improvement Coordinator complies with all ISO Quality System procedures and work instructions related to your job description.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead 6S Program.
  • Lead Corrective Action process.
  • REDUCE WASTE – Develop and optimize production processes in cooperation with other production and management personnel, improving quality capability, and minimizing defects, cost, and customer complaints.
  • The Continuous Improvement Coordinator identifies opportunities for improvement and spearhead appropriate changes.
  • Conduct and oversee internal audits. Ensure facilities are following quality standards, Lean Standards, and general organization procedures.
  • Conduct regular communication meetings with crews to include safety, quality, continuous improvement, work area order, and policy changes.
  • Responsible for performing all activities in a safe manner and make others aware of unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Maintain Environmental Health and Safety programs as necessary to meet local and federal regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma Required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or related engineering discipline, quality management, or related field or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience with setting up and/or administering practices and programs for Lean Manufacturing, Visual Management Systems, Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred) and/or ISO standards and applications required.
  • Experience conducting internal quality audit and responding to external quality audits preferred.
  • Required experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Desired experience in Microsoft Teams and/or SharePoint.
  • Desired a minimum of 4 years of experience in production, preferably in an injection molding environment, with at least 1 in a Continuous Improvement leadership role.
  • Desired experience using ERP or other manufacturing system.
  • Toyota Production System Experienced strongly desired.

  • Ability to coach and develop others. Strong leadership skills and ability to build and lead teams to attain objectives and performance.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes and procedures, including Operational Excellence Principles, and how to effectively integrate them and achieve optimal production results.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, policies, programs, regulations, and procedures, and how to effectively put them into practice in manufacturing environment, including, Six Sigma, Black Belt and ISO standards and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels and types of internal and external individuals in English.
  • Strong technical writing skills and ability to develop and deliver public presentations in English.
  • Ability to travel internationally to support company operations.
