Quality Manager

A local plastics manufacturer looking for an experienced Quality Manager with IATF experience to lead a team consisting of 2 Quality Engineers, 2 Technicians, and 3 Auditors (1/shift). Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a quality system
    • supports the maintenance of the quality registrations (ISO 9001;2015, UL etc)
    • compliant with applicable local, state, and federal regulations
    • supports the achievement of agreed upon customer quality requirements.
  • Manage the Quality Assurance and Documentation Control functions to support the achievement of financial objectives.
  • Continuously evaluate voluntary standards, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements and adjust quality system and its policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Act as Management Representative for all Quality Systems matters.
  • Provide the management team and others with regular reports against quality objectives.
  • Conduct Monthly Management Review meetings and issue the review minutes.
  • Conduct internal audits and publish the results.
  • Manage the customer complaint system and any corrective actions arising from a complaint.
  • Manage the Corrective Action/Preventive Action system (CAPA).
  • Manage the first article inspection, quality inspection, quality engineering and document control functions including defining activities, staffing levels, continuous feedback and timely job performance reviews, and goal setting.
  • Support sales during the quotation process by reviewing quality requirements and estimating costs to comply.
  • Develop and provide input to management for the QA and Document Control departmental expense and capital budgets and manage them once they are approved.
  • Support continuous improvement process by providing training in problem solving and improvement methodology (5S, Root cause Analysis, Process FMEA)
  • Ensuring tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and that product modifications are investigated if necessary.
  • Establishing relevant quality-related training needs.
  • Working closely with purchasing staff to establish supplier quality performance criteria and monitor supplier performance.
    • Assessing suppliers' product specifications and quality plans.
    • Supervising the program of supplier audits in relation to Quality.
    • Liaising with other managers and staff, particularly in areas such as design, production and purchasing.
    • Acting as key contact with customers' auditors and being responsible for ensuring the execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers' specifications.
    • Establishing reasonable standards of service for customers or clients.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in engineering
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in a quality function including 3 years of leadership/management-level experience in a custom product manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing quality procedures, principles and methods including ISO9001 compliance and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Strong ‘presence’ with customers in person and/or on the phone.
  • Possess a desire to create winning solutions for customers and be a customer advocate
  • Role requires some business travel to customer locations.

Job Type: Permanent full-time employment

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
