HVAC Engineer (CFD)

Designs, analyzes, and documents employing computer simulations and parametric analysis, new or existing products from the requirements provided. Creates and sustains specifications using engineering analysis and judgment. Oversees the development and testing of engineering prototypes and work with compliance engineers to secure agency approvals. Communicates and coordinates with the sales, marketing, manufacturing, warranty and suppliers on product design, launch and aftermarket follow-up.



  • Assist in redesigning major HVAC systems and components using Solid Works, CFD, DFM and continuous improvement tools to improve assembly efficiencies,  product quality and reduce cost
  • Manage project schedules related to new and existing product designs
  • Create, revise, and sustain HVAC product designs, utilizing knowledge of mechanical engineering principles
  • Specify and analyze product designs using existing engineering analytical tools
  • Liaison with agencies; ETL, AHRI, and DOE on product performance, and agency approvals
  • Document product designs by preparing bills of materials, cost analyses, drawings, and engineering change requests
  • Develop and use simulation tools to aid in designing and predicting product performance
  • Develop Engineering solutions to product related issues through problem-solving and root cause analysis techniques
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to launch products, resolve issues, and support product improvements
  • Coordinate project work internally with the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget
  • Work with suppliers to improve quality and resolve product issues
  • Assist Manufacturing with product launches and issue resolution
  • Requires domestic travel to visit with Suppliers, Agency labs, and Customers


  • BS in Mechanical Engineering  
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in  product design simulations and testing
  • Knowledge of refrigeration and/or air conditioning design and application
  • Knowledge of specifications and standards used in the HVAC industry
  • Software skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Powerpoint, 3-D CAD, and CFD
  • Effective communication skills - both oral and written
  • Effective project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
